Physical Planning

We believe in engaging professional physical planners to undertake comprehensive spatial plans for all our towns and develop land use plan that can be used to produce master-plans for long term sustainability.producing masterplans , exercise and placing the plan users is even more challenging. However, they are necessary. It is worth noticing that none of our towns including the proposed County Headquarters at Kutus have proper sewers nor sewer treatment works. This is not only a health hazard but a challenge to the environment. We drain raw sewerage into our major rivers that flow past Kerugoya, Kutus, Sagana, Ngurubani, Kagumo, Kianyaga etc.

We therefore wish to make a passionate appeal to friends, Cooperatives and well-wishers to subsidize our meagre budgetary provisions in order to realize this dream of providing sewers and requisite sewer treatment works. After naming the streets, one of the many ways of funding street lighting, street maintenance would be by way of inviting advertisements that raise revenue and also improve the image of the participants thus adding values to all stake holders.

We have seen this method work for the city of Nairobi in the “Adopt A light project” and the security lighting projects.

Kirinyaga County has very many cases of Land disputes. It is important to note that at the county level we intend to follow the laid down legal mechanism in order to resolve such dispoutes amicably. Land remains a sensitive issue especially community lands where many institutions and individuals have laid divergent claims.

Housing and Urban Development

We hope to develop our own towns such that they attract rural to urban migration in order to ease the pressure on the scarce land available for agriculture. This will be in line with the provision of the Millennium Development Goals and the Kenya Vision 2030. We shall endeavor to encourage plot owners to partner with investors for provision of decent and affordable housing.
