Waiguru invites Chinese investors to Industrial Parks and Export Processing Zones
The Council of Governors (COG) Chairperson, Anne Waiguru, has called upon investors from China to partner with County Governments in setting up the 47 Industrial Parks across all the counties as well as five Export Processing Zones (EPZ) in select counties. Speaking when she hosted a delegation from China led by the President of Africa-China People’s Friendship Association (ACPFA) Li Bin and Chinese Ambassador Zhou Pingjain, Waiguru said that County Governments thrive through partnerships and by forging strategic alliances in order to maximize all forms of cooperation for sustainable development. “I want to urge us all to seize this opportunity to further explore and identify potential areas of collaboration because together, we can leverage our strengths, experiences and resources to overcome shared challenges and unlock new possibilities”, said the CoG Chair.
Waiguru further affirmed the Council’s support and commitment to discuss the potential for a stronger partnership between Kenya and China. She said that the Council recognizes and values the longstanding partnership between the two nations and the significant contributions that have resulted from the cooperation. “Your visit signifies the strong bonds of friendship and collaboration that exist between China and our country. Your nation’s commitment, collaboration and shared prosperity has brought forth remarkable achievements and transformative projects”, said Waiguru.
ACPFA is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to promote cultural exchange and people to people relations between Africa and China. Speaking during the visit, the ACPFA President Mme. Li Bin said that he was looking forward to a long term development and strategic cooperation with the Council of Governors. “Having served as both Governor and Minister in my country, I have similar work experience as your chair and I can already feel our political trust deepening”, said Li. He further noted that the visit was meant to strengthen dialogue and cooperation between the two countries in order to improve the welfare of the people.
He added that the pillars of friendship that the Kenya and China have built over time were a huge potential for innovation and economic prosperity of people to people associations and encouraged the leaders of the two nations to keep fostering good working relations.
